Lessons LEARNED:

This project was looks fairly simple; however, it presented many challenges that I learned a lot from. First, event schedules were often finalized by management the day-of so many of my designs had to be planned and executed in-store on the spot (which would have been a fun creative exercise if parking in Georgetown was not $20 for over an hour!). Second, there was no area for me to draw the smaller A-frame board so I made do by balancing it on my lap sitting on the floor and between the bathroom and the inventory room. Third, I had never used liquid chalk markers before and I naively assumed I would be able to erase any mistakes with and at at least use a ruler to guide my compositions. I learned the first day that any erasing would be very obvious because the background wipe pattern was disrupted and so each mark once starting had to be executed with great care or I had to erase the entire board and begin again. I also learned placing a ruler on the surface of the board noticeably smudged both the background wipe pattern and any designs underneath, so I had to freehand and eyeball any straight edges. Everything being said, I learned a lot from this experience and specifically enjoyed helping promote community events that empower local women.
