I’m sure you’re scouting for the ‘T’-shaped candidate: someone with a diverse skillset supported by their depth of knowledge and experience. Feel free to browse the other pages on my website, however I curated this index specifically for this application to demonstrate my T-shaped qualities in addition to my CV/resumé.

NOT ONLY CAN I CARRY COFFEE, I can ALSO PUT TOGETHER ONE HELL OF A SPREADSHEET.

First thing’s first, I could talk about my passion for storytelling and ambitions as a filmmaker as much as I want, but none of that matters unless I am also qualified to accomplish the administrative tasks you need completed. I have many years of experience with task organization and management practices and softwares. Since I was 14, I have been assisting my family’s small business with sorting information in programs like Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel etc. As a Communications Director for a nonprofit in Boston, in high school, I was able to balance my duties managing undergraduate and post-graduate interns online. In 2018, I was a brand ambassador for Athleta for Georgetown D.C. location and assisted in planning and marketing local female-empowerment events. Currently, in my Creative Director position at a student publication, I manage our editors on Airtable and Google Sheets; as well as sorting media files, scheduling events and deadlines over the phone and email. Lately this past fall, I was a front-desk receptionist at a luxury salon where I greeted and served beverages to clients, filed receipts, answered the business phone and emails, copied, faxed and printed documents, researched event opportunities, replenished and cleaned supplies/tools for technicians, and, admittedly on occasion, walked the owner’s dog.

What about film & tv?

A QUICK HISTORY…

In middle school and high school, I had the pleasure of participating in HitRecord on TV S1 & S2. Although, my role was not the most essential to the show’s production, I listed it in my resumé because it was a pivotal experience that solidified my ambitions to be a professional the entertainment industry. On top of a platform to practice my artistic skills, I began to get an inside look into the television development process and loved it. In high school, I had the opportunity to take a screenwriting class with Simon Herbert, a professor at UCLA, in an intensive summer discovery program.

As an underclassmen at American University, I was a PA and crew member for various seniors’ film/tv production class projects and now have begun the process of developing my own original show for ATV, AU’s student run television station. This semester I also intern with AcornTV, +16 hours per week. With my keen eye for detail, and creative skillsets, I have already become a key member of their promotional programming team.

If you read all of that—whew it’s almost over. In all seriousness, I put in this extra effort for my application because I am consistently blown away by your original programming, as well as inspired by your stories and innovative role in the entertainment industry. I hope I have proven some of my potential to bring my skills and experience to HBO. Thank you for your valuable time and consideration for this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Samantha Daley
